18 June - 2 Corinthians 8

We’re back in 2 Corinthians today, chapter 8. Let’s take a look at what Paul has to say:
  1. Paul begins this chapter by talking about being generous. He implored the church of Corinth to become generous givers by showing them how people (much poorer than they were) begged Paul to allow them to give to others. He wasn’t urging the Corinthians to give for him but to give so others who had less could be helped.
  2. Paul knew that giving is as much about us growing as people as it’s about helping those in need. When we give we practice humility and generosity, two character traits God values greatly.
How about you? Do you give generously to those in need? Do you give back to God on a regular basis? We give money at church, not only because we want to help the church continue to exists but we also give back to God because he’s been so generous towards us. Is giving money at church difficult for you to do? We understand, but if you don’t you’re missing out on a way to really connect with God. It sounds silly but our money is very closely tied to our heart. Where we put our money shows where our priorities lay. This is why Tattoo Church partners with organizations like Thicker Than Blood. (www.thickerthanblood.org) We want to have a chance to help others and live a life bigger than ourselves. Ask God to help you understand how to live a generous life and why it’s so important.
