Today we’re reading 2 Corinthians 7 in the Tattoo Church Reading Plan. Here are a few thoughts:
- Paul begins this chapter by telling his readers they should strive to live a life that pleases God because of their reverence for God.
- Then Paul tells how he heard that the Corinthians we worried about him and all his hardships. Paul then tells them he struggled to write his first letter (1 Corinthians) to them because he knew it would hurt them. However, in the end he was happy that he wrote it because it caused them to repent of their wrong ways.
- He closes out the chapter telling them how proud he was of them for changing their ways.
Have you ever had to have a tough conversation with someone where you called them out on something? Conversations like that can be done in a loving way or a mean way. Which did you use? We can see here that Paul’s loving correction helped the church in Corinth come back to God. Paul also talked about living a life that pleases God out of reverence for him. Does your life please God? If so, do you live that way out of reverence for God or out of obligation?
