Today we’re reading Genesis chapter 30:1-24.
- The beginning of this chapter sounds very familiar doesn’t it? Rachel and Jacob can’t have children and Rachel gives her maid to Jacob to have a child with. But then Leah did the same thing.
- Wow, this is really getting crazy. I can’t believe people say reading the Bible is boring? Then Rachel gives her night to be with Jacob to Leah for some fruit (guess Jacob wasn’t such a great catch). I mean this first 24 verses of this chapter would give Jerry Springer a run for his money!
- But this wasn’t how God wanted to bless them. God allowed Rachel to have a child of her own and she named him Joseph. We’ll read more of him later.
This chapter should remind us to always trust in God and his timing. Rachel and Leah and Jacob tried to take things in their own hands but God had another plan. God’s plan is always perfect and in perfect timing. We just need to trust him. What do you need to trust God with today?
