18 April - Acts 26

Today we're reading Acts 26 together. Here are a couple quick thoughts:
  1. The chapter starts with King Agrippa telling Paul he can speak from himself in response to the charges raised against him.
  2. Paul starts by saying how he thinks himself fortunate to be speaking in front of Agrippa since he was well informed of Jewish customs and culture. Then Paul proceeded to retell Agrippa his whole story as he had done previously for the Felix and Festus.
  3. At hearing about the resurrection of Jesus Agrippa interrupts Paul and says; "You are out of your mind Paul! Your great learning is driving you insane."
  4. Paul replies that Agrippa knows he's not insane and that he must have heard of these events because he is so well informed since he is king.
  5. King Agrippa said, "Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?" Paul replied that his prayer is everyone would eventually become a follower of Jesus
The interesting thing about Paul's trial is that he didn't really need to defend himself; he only needed to tell his story. Paul had lived a life of pure conscious before God (even when he was persecuting Christians). Because of this Paul didn't need to think of his defense, he simply told his life story. When standing before King Agrippa Paul said his hope was that everyone would become a follower of Jesus. He could say that with boldness and everyone accepted it because his life modeled it.

Does your life model that helping other people connect with the love of God is your highest priority? If not what needs to change? Who have you invited to church with you lately? Perhaps you’re a bit more on the skeptical side of this whole Jesus thing? I can understand that.
