Welcome back to the Tattoo Church Reading Plan. This is one of the resources we offer to help you in your journey with God. Today we read the last chapter of the book of James, chapter 5. If you have been with us since the beginning do you realize that means you have read two whole books of the Bible (Mark and James)! That’s awesome! Congratulations! Now let’s dive into James 5.
- James talks about patience in our sufferings. He says blessed are people who can persevere. Life is tough sometimes but remember to look for God because he cares! If you’re skeptical (and I understand if you are) then this applies for you too. You might think I’ve done too much messed up stuff for God to care about me but that couldn’t be farther from the truth!
- We are also told to pray. That the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Let us we live pure lives so that our prayers can be heard by God. If you’re not yet sure about God then talk to him about that. Prayer is just talking to God and he can handle your honesty.
- Finally we are encouraged to keep each other accountable. James says if someone “should wonder from the truth” someone should try to bring them back.
The essence of James is that we live in peace with one another and love each other. Do you have someone who you can be honest with and keep each other on the right path? If not ask God to bring someone like that into your life and have the courage to be open and honest with someone else. But remember this should be done in love and for the best interest of the other person; not just to make you feel better about yourself.
By the way, if you committed to reading through this plan for one month you’re done! Or you just created the most healthy spiritual habit you can imagine (yes, I tricked you into making a good habit). See you tomorrow!
