5 July - Ephesians 2

We’re back in Ephesians today, chapter 2. Let’s see what’s going on today.
  1. Paul describes a detailed account of how we’re all dead in our sins before we decide to follow Jesus. However, by his unfathomable grace, God forgives us if we ask. Later Paul says we were once without hope, without God and “far away” but now God has brought us near to him. It’s mind blowing when we try to understand the depths of God’s love and grace he offers us.
  2. Then he says we were saved by Jesus in order to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. This should destroy any thoughts that your life has no purpose. Paul is telling you that if you choose to walk with Jesus then God has a plan for your life.
  3. In the closing of this chapter Paul describes us as being two halves of a person but made whole by Jesus. It’s a beautiful description of God adopting us into his family. God chooses us as one of his own children.
Have you ever felt like two different people before? Or like part of you is missing? The awesome news is that Jesus wants to make us whole. Have you ever felt like your life doesn’t matter, like you have no purpose? We read today that when we choose to walk with Jesus our lives get direction and purpose. Have you described this great news with the people in your life? We should share God’s love with everyone we know.
