Today we’re wrapping up Galatians with chapter 6. Below are a couple things to think about:
- Paul begins this chapter with reminding the Galatians they should watch out for each other spiritually. Often we can drift away from God in small increments that are difficult to recognize ourselves. This is why as Christians we should help keep each other accountable. However, this is not a license to be judgmental. We should help each other out of love not because we think we’re better than they are.
- Also, did you notice that Paul didn’t say we should correct people who are not Christians? Paul never says we are to keep people who don’t follow Jesus accountable; that’s not our job. This is something that turns a lot of people away from God. Often Christians feel the need to be the moral police in society but Jesus never tells us to do that. Our responsibility is for our own actions.
- Paul tells his audience “we reap what we sow.” This means that wherever we put our energies is where we will see results. This applies not only to our jobs and relationships in life. It also applies to our spiritual lives.
- Paul ends with saying we should never do things to blend in with others in order to avoid being criticized for being a Christian.
Do you have people in your life that help keep you living the way Jesus wants you to live? If you do have someone like that in your life, do you try to help them too? Has anyone ever judged you and made you feel uncomfortable? Have you ever acted judgmentally towards someone who doesn’t claim to walk with God? If so you made them feel the same way you did when someone judged you. This is why as followers of Jesus we’re called to love people not judge them. Last, where are you putting your energy? Are you putting your efforts in things that will hurt you or others or are you trying to build up your relationships with people and God?
