We’re wrapping up the book of 2 Corinthians with chapter 13. Let’s take a look at how Paul finished this letter to the church in Corinth.
- He begins with telling them he will soon be visiting them for the third time and he asks them to correct their wrong ways before he arrives.
- Paul tells the Corinthians to test their actions to see if they’re really following Jesus.
- He tells them he wants the best for them and because of that he will not withhold his correction if it’s needed when he arrives.
- Paul closes by telling the people of the church to aim for perfection, be of one mind and live in peace. These are words we can all strive to live by.
We should also test our actions and see if they are consistent with what we know the life of a follower of Jesus should look like. Does your life pass the test? We all have areas we need to work on. This even applies for those of us who are still skeptical. Many of the things Jesus taught applies to everyone. Think about it; who wouldn’t benefit from being more generous, loving, patient, peaceful, fulfilled and free? What areas do you need to change in your life to look more like Jesus? Ask God to help you aim for perfection and live in peace.
