17 May - 1 Corinthians 2

Today we’re in 1 Corinthians 2 in the Tattoo Church Reading Plan. Here are a few quick thoughts:
  1. Paul (the writer of this letter) reminds his readers he taught them humbly so that they would remember God’s power in their life not Paul’s wisdom. Maybe we would have greater impact in people’s lives if we strived to leave them remembering God more than us.
  2. Then Paul writes about a truth for those who follow God that is absolutely mind blowing. He says that if we have decided to follow Jesus we have been given the Spirit of God inside of us and this Spirit helps us understand the thoughts of God. That’s really awesome news because we all have a hard time understanding God sometimes.
Application time: Maybe this week you can focus on trying to leave people remembering God rather than you. Ask God to help you show people his love and somehow leave them thinking about him. Have you ever felt like you just don’t get God? The cool thing is when we choose to follow Jesus, God sends his Spirit to help us. This doesn’t totally make sense but we don’t have to fully understand God. If we could then he wouldn’t be a very big God would he? Ask God to (through his Spirit living in you) help you understand his heart for you and others more.
