22 March - Acts 6

We’re reading Acts chapter 6 today. Here are a few quick thoughts:
  1. The first half of this chapter records the decision of the apostles (also called “the Twelve” here) to choose seven additional men to help in caring for the people.
  2. The second half of this chapter talks about a man named Stephen, who was one of the seven chosen. Stephen did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. Then some religious leaders tried to argue with him. However, they couldn’t measure up against Stephen so they had some men lie about Stephen and accuse him of speaking against God. Then they had Stephen arrested.
Did you notice that the apostles decided to choose seven men to help care for people because they wanted to focus more on their role in leading the group? This is why it is so critical to volunteer at your church. For a church to be healthy each person must be performing the role they are best wired for. A church can only grow as long as there are people to serve each other. The less people serving, the less the church is able to grow. The apostles understood this and that’s why they chose seven more men to help. Besides helping the church grow, serving on a team is the best way to get connected and develop great friendships. Here at Tattoo Church we feel the same applies to our community. Let’s learn to serve each other better. That’s why we partner with Thicker Than Blood. Go check them out and let’s serve our brother and sisters in our community. www.thickerthanblood.org
