19 March - Acts 3

Today we are back in the book of Acts, chapter 3. Here are a few points and things to think about:
  1. The chapter opens up with Peter and John going to the temple. Then a crippled man caught their attention and Peter healed the man.
  2. All the people were amazed but Peter asks them why they were surprised. He tells them the crippled man was healed through his faith in Jesus.
  3. Then Peter told them they acted in ignorance when they rejected and killed Jesus but now was the time to repent and turn back to God.
The crippled man begged for money but Peter gave him more than all the money in the world could have bought him, the use of his legs and faith in God again. God used the act of healing a crippled man to confirm his Spirit was in Peter and John. The people around the temple noticed and were amazed. The words that Peter spoke had to cut the crowd to their core. He told them they crucified their God (Jesus) even when the Roman officials, who did not worship their God, wanted to free him. Peter said they had “killed the author of life.” He told them Jesus was indeed God’s Son, risen from the dead.

You may feel that you can’t help people around you because you can’t heal their sickness or lift their financial burden. However, if you’re a follower of Jesus you can offer them even better: hope. Hope because God loves them and wants to have a relationship with them. He cares about every aspect of their life. Do you offer the hope you have to others? Do you believe this about yourself? That God loves you and cares about every aspect of your life? Then why don’t you respectfully find ways to share that hope with others?
