21 Jan - Mark 15

Bet you can guess what we are reading today . . . yep Mark 15. So let’s look at it:
  1. In the opening lines of chapter 15 we see that Pilate, the government official, could find no crime that Jesus committed but the religious leaders incited the crowd to scream for his crucifixion. Pilate conceded.
  2. After Jesus died, did you notice that the Roman centurion said; “Surely this man was the Son of God!”
  3. Afterwards a Jewish leader, who obviously was one of the few leaders who believed in Jesus, asked Pilate for the body of Jesus and prepared his body for burial and placed him in a tomb and put a large stone against the entrance.
Did you notice that the Roman government official could find no wrong in Jesus? And the Roman centurion believed Jesus was the Son of God? How is it that men who had no knowledge of all of the Jewish prophecies Jesus believed more in him than the people who had been looking for him for generations? Perhaps religious men let their religion get in the way of seeing God. Always pray that God keep you focused on him and not allow you to fall into religion. Jesus did not die for us to establish religions in his name, he died to forgive sins of all who will ask and provide the only path to restore us to God.
